Team xG

3.34 - Man City

2.66 - Liverpool

2.39 - Spurs

2.39 - Nottingham Forest

2.22 - Bournemouth

City top as expected but promising from Bournemouth as they looked dangerous at home.

Shots conceded

23 - Southampton

19 - Brentford

18 - Leicester

18 - Crystal Palace

16 - Newcastle

Southampton not looking great defensively so far this season.

Definitely a team to target going forward.

Player xG

1.79 - Haaland

1.15 - Welbeck

1.14 - Son

1.00 - Milenkovic

0.93 - Cunha

Welbeck very high again as Brighton continue to impress.

Unsurprisingly Haaland is top.

Player xA

1.23 - Semenyo

0.73 - Fernandes

0.65 - De Bruyne

0.63 - McNeil

0.58 - Mitoma

Semenyo looked incredibly dangerous against Newcastle.

Fernandes once again needing someone to finish the chances he creates.

Shots

7 - Haaland, Muniz, Semenyo

6 - Madueke

5 - Williams, Isak, Eze, Palmer

Neco Williams the only defender in here.

Promising for Isak and Eze owners.

Shots on target

5 - Madueke

4 - Haaland

3 - Son

2 - Muniz, Welbeck, Evanilson, Robertson, Iwobi, Cunha, Joao Pedro, Wood, Salah, Diaz, Romero, Gibbs-White

No surprises here, both players that scored hat tricks top the charts.

KEEP OR SELL? - NKUNKU

After starting on the bench at the weekend and only coming on in the 83rd minute, Nkunku is definitely a sell now.

Palmer played in the 10 role that we thought we’d see Nkunku play and Madueke played on the right wing.

They both performed so well that you’d imagine they’ll start there again next weekend.

Of course, Nkunku could play left wing again instead of Mudryk.

However, I’d expect Pedro Neto to start in that position as he’s impressed in the minutes that he’s played so far.

My favourite replacements for Nkunku at each price point:

£7.0m - Eze & Mbeumo

£6.5m - Gibbs-White

£6.0m - N/A

£5.5m - Brereton Diaz, Smith Rowe & Minteh

£5.1m - Rogers

KEEP OR SELL? - EZE

Eze failed to get an attacking return again in GW2 which was very frustrating for owners.

However, no player in the league has taken more shots than Eze in the first two games.

He’s played 90 minutes in both games and is very likely to be on penalties when Palace get one.

Therefore, I think Eze is definitely a keep. The returns will come.

KEEP OR SELL? - BRUNO FERNANDES

Similar to Eze, Fernandes has looked very dangerous but has no attacking returns to his name.

He has racked up almost 2 xGI so, again, the returns will come meaning he’s a keep for me.

However, I can understand selling Fernandes if you want to generate some funds to get Salah/Saka/Palmer in a couple of weeks.

Although I do think you should wait until after he plays Southampton in GW4.

WHEN TO WILDCARD

Many managers are using the wildcard chip this week and I do understand why.

There is a nice run of fixtures to target for the likes of Liverpool and Villa.

With the new rule changes, I think we need to change our perception of the wildcard chip.

You can now roll up to 5 transfers instead of 2 and any banked free transfers you have before you wildcard will roll forward and be available to you in the gameweek after you wildcard.

This does make the chip slightly less powerful.

The ability to roll up to 5 free transfers allows you play a “mini wildcard” whereby you can make wholesale changes in one go.

Therefore, it’s viable to use the wildcard chip to attack smaller swings in fixtures.

For that reason, I don’t mind using the chip early in GW3 or GW4 but as always it is team dependent.

For example, if I were wildcarding this week I’d only be making 4 real changes to my team so am planning to hold it for now.

If you are on wildcard this week then check out the YouTube video below where I showcase the team that I’d be going with if I were wildcarding this week.

CAPTAINCY

Haaland, Saka and Palmer are the 3 best captain options this week.

I’ve developed a captaincy model that will help you choose who to captain each week.

Check out the numbers for this week in my YouTube video below.

MY TEAM SELECTION

This is how my team currently looks for this week.

I transferred Nkunku to Rogers earlier this week.

I am still debating whether to bench Pedro Porro or Joao Pedro.

If you have any specific questions on anything in this preview or anything related to your team then drop me a message on Instagram or Twitter @BradMayorFPL.

Best of luck!
