GW1 STATS SUMMARY

All of the stats I use in this thread are from Fantasy Football Hub.

Team xG

2.69 - Liverpool

2.44 - Man United

2.39 - West Ham

1.88 - Aston Villa

1.68 - Southampton

It’s not too surprising that Liverpool are top given they had a great fixture against Ipswich.

Shots conceded

19 - Newcastle

18 - Wolves

18 - Ipswich

15 - West Ham

15 - Leicester

Again, not surprising that Newcastle conceded the most shots as they played most of the game with 10 men.

Player xG

1.12 - Mitoma

1.04 - Soucek

1.03 - Fernandes

0.95 - Jota

0.91 - Wissa

Soucek and Fernandes were the only two on this list to not convert their xG into a goal.

Player xA

1.00 - Alexander-Arnold

0.98 - Maddison

0.65 - Minteh

0.60 - Fatawu

0.44 - Kudus

Trent owners can consider themselves very unlucky not to get an attacking return in GW1.

Shots

7 - Eze

6 - Fernandes

5 - Semenyo, Saka, Tavernier, Armstrong, Soucek, Havertz

Only 3 of these players managed to score.

Eze and Fernandes owners very unlucky.

Shots on target

3 - Saka, Salah, Fernandes, Eze, Solanke, Mitoma

Fernandes and Eze consistently popping up at the top of these attacking stats.

Also encouraging for Solanke owners.

KEEP OR SELL? - BARCO

We all thought Barco was going to be this playing ÂŁ4.0m defender that was very attacking and on corners.

He didn’t get any minutes in GW1 and has now gone on loan to Sevilla.

Having said that, I don’t actually think he’s a priority sell.

It’s probably not worth wasting a transfer on a £4.0m defender that you’re going to bench all the time.

I’d hold him until you wildcard.

KEEP OR SELL? - NKUNKU

Nkunku played left wing in GW1 and came off after 57 minutes.

However, I don’t think we’ll see something similar in GW2 as I think this was more to do with the opposition.

In GW2 against Wolves, I’d expect to see Nkunku in the 8/10 role that he played in pre season.

Enzo filled this role against City but I don’t think we’ll typically see Lavia, Caicedo and Enzo on the pitch at the same time very often.

Enzo was did play very high in that role so if Nkunku plays there this weekend, we can expect Nkunku to be very involved in attacking areas.

Therefore, I think Nkunku is a keep for now.

Although the arrival of João Félix may impact Nkunku’s longer term minutes.

KEEP OR SELL? - QUANSAH

Quansah was taken off at half time by Arne Slot in a tactical move to gain more control.

I don’t think this means that Quansah will now be frozen out and see no minutes.

However, I wouldn’t be confident on predicting which games he will play.

Therefore, I think Quansah is a sell as you don’t want him long term.

In terms of replacements, it depends what weeks you need a defender for.

These 3 are my favourite:

Robinson - if you need a player for GW2 and GW3.

Dunk - if you need a player for GW4 and GW5.

Konsa - if you need a player from GW3 onwards.

I know many are looking at Rico Lewis and while I think he’s great for GW2, you will find yourself with another issue quite quickly.

Essentially you are swapping one minutes issue for another so I prefer the 3 replacements mentioned above.

TRIPLE CAPTAIN HAALAND?

I think there is a serious argument for using the triple captain chip on Haaland this week.

I’ll go over the key points for and against using it.

Firstly, Ipswich at home is about as good a fixture as Haaland is going to get this season in a single gameweek.

Another pro is that City are not playing any other games such as Champions League, EFL Cup or FA Cup right now.

Haaland is currently fully fit, has had a full pre season and has no competition since Julián Alvarez has left the club and they are yet to replace him.

We are also expecting fewer double gameweeks this season.

Unlike previous seasons, FA Cup quarter finals will no longer cause blanks and doubles.

Only FA Cup semi finals and the EFL Cup final will cause blanks (outside of other unpredictable events).

Therefore, we could only get two double gameweeks this season.

We will want to use the bench boost in one of these and we may want to use the new mystery chip in the other.

Meaning that the triple captain chip would have to be used in a single gameweek.

So there are plenty of arguments for using it this week.

On the other hand, we may see some unexpected double gameweeks meaning we have more than 2.

Also, the mystery chip might not be useful in a double gameweek.

Both meaning we want the triple captain for a double.

To conclude, I think this is the best single gameweek to use the chip.

However, I will be waiting until we know more about the mystery chip and future doubles so will not be using it this week.

MY TEAM SELECTION

Below is my team for this week.

I put my team into the Fantasy Football Hub AI transfer recommendation tool and it suggested that I should roll my transfer.

It was always my plan to roll this week and only Porro injury news will change this.
